Shelly
Hi,

I have been trying to figure out what to do and I feel lost. My boyfriend and I met 2 years ago. He lives in The US and I live in Canada. I want to be able to live there with him and work. We are very confused about what to do and who to talk to. So far no one has been every helpful. Do we have to get married? If so how do we go about that? Can I apply for a a visa just to visit and then get the rest while I am there? Do I need a lawyer? And When?
We really want to be together and want to do it the right way. As a Canadian I am told I can't enter The Green Card Lottery which I would like to do. The more I read the more confused I get. Any info would be great. Thanks

Shelly,
A US citizen and Canadian citizen will not have any problems living in the U.S. The easiest for both of you is to get married. Once you get your green card, you can apply for work anywhere in the U.S. Get married first! You could enter the U.S. on a K-1 visa. That may be the eaasiest. If you are unsure about how to go on about the whole process, go to a U.S. immigration lawyer and have him/her help you file all the application forms and tell you what requirements that needs to be satisfied.

Just make sure you DON'T GO TO THE USA ON A TOURIST VISA FOR THE PURPOSE OF GETTING MARRIED.

Happy Ending!
