I am British born and came to California on my I-94 (90 day visa waiver). I met a man who I genuinely liked and we married so as not to be parted.

With full intention of applying to immigration to adjust my status I stayed over my VISA by just 5 days before my so called loving and adoring American husband walked out on me leaving me illegal, homeless, hungry and without the air fare home.

I had exhausted every option before by a stroke of luck I was offered a green card sponsor job based on having a (first class honors) British Business Management degree.

Only I cannot find loopholes on the net, and apparantly as I am already over my allowed stay in the US I cannot take this job sponsor even though it is a job that has not been taken from US citizens as my degree specifically caters for it and even though it means I can finally give back to the US and pay my taxes. I want to pay my taxes!. Is it true that I cannot take a sponsor?
If I can what is the deadline that I must apply for 2007/ early 2008?
