i just move to usa and i have the f1 visa. I went to DMV to try to get a driving license, and they told me that i have to have an employment letter from my school to be able to get one. Now, i went to my school to see if they can give me that letter, and they said that the only way to get it is by working at school. However, at this very moment they don't have an opening for me to work and that i have to be in advance ESL to be elegible to work. This school does not have a campus for me to live, so i rented an apartment which is like 30 minutes away from it, in this city there is not public transportation. So my question is does anyone knows the process to get a driving license beside that by working with the school.

AS A FOREIGN STUDENT THE KEY IS TO GET A SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER, THEN YOU CAN GET YOUR DRIVERS LICENSE.

THE EASIEST THING IS, LIKE YOU ARE WRITING, TO GET AN EMPLOYMENT LETTER FROM SCHOOL. WHAT I RECOMMEND YOU DO IS TO APPLY FOR ANY STUPID JOB THEY HAVE. ALL YOU WANT TO DO IS TO HAVE YOUR SCHOOL PAY YOU ONCE - ONLY ONE TIME. FOR THAT ONE TIME, THEY WILL GIVE YOU AN EMPLOYMENT LETTER.

YOU CAN ALSO APPLY FOR ECONOMIC HARDSHIP OR CPT, BUT THE JOB THROUGH SCHOOL IS BY FAR THE EASIEST.

IF YOU PLAN ON BEING IN THE U.S.A. FOR A WHILE, THEN A SOCIAL AND DRIVERS LICENSE WILL REALLY BENEFIT YOU.
